Letters to Daniel W. Teller /by Woolsey Teller, 1849-1850.

Teller wrote to his brother Daniel in New York about his 1849 trip to California by train, stage, and boat. His company left New York and traveled to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where they camped before continuing to Santa Fé and California. These letters describe the route and events, while those from San Francisco describe the city, Teller's plans to import food and open a restaurant, and a visit to the mines.
